Terms & Conditions
These terms set out the basis on which Patina accepts watches for service and the conditions that apply to all work carried out by the workshop.
Last updated:
Please read these terms before leaving a watch with us. By handing a piece over for service — whether in person or by arrangement — you are agreeing to these conditions. If anything is unclear, we are happy to go through it with you before work begins.
1. Definitions
In these terms, "Patina", "we", or "us" refers to the workshop operating at 12 Thanon Tha Phae, Chang Moi, Muang, Chiang Mai 50300. "Customer", "you", or "your" refers to the person or party leaving a piece for service. "Work" means any service, cleaning, restoration, inspection, or adjustment we carry out on a watch in our care.
2. Acceptance of work
We assess each piece individually before committing to work. Accepting a watch for inspection does not oblige us to carry out service if, on closer examination, the scope or condition of the piece falls outside what we are able to address responsibly.
We will inform you of this assessment and return the piece without charge if we determine we cannot proceed.
3. Estimates and approval
For our Health Check & Clean service, the listed price covers the work as described. For Movement Service and Heirloom Restoration, we provide a written estimate before committing to the full scope.
We will not proceed beyond the agreed scope without your explicit approval. If additional issues are found during work, we will pause, contact you with a clear explanation and revised cost, and continue only with your agreement. You may choose to collect the piece at that point at the cost of work completed to date.
4. Pricing
Prices are quoted in Thai Baht (฿) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Listed prices are for the service described and apply to standard movements in ordinary condition. Pieces in particularly poor condition, or requiring sourcing of rare parts, may require a separate quotation.
Payment is due on collection. We accept cash and bank transfer. Ownership of the watch remains with the customer at all times.
5. Turnaround times
We give indicative completion estimates when work is agreed. These are made in good faith but are not contractual commitments. Watchmaking involves close, careful work, and some tasks take longer than initially expected — we will always let you know if there is a delay.
Typical turnaround times are:
- Quick Health Check & Clean: 3–5 working days
- Movement Service & Regulation: 10–20 working days
- Heirloom Restoration & Archive: discussed and agreed individually
6. Collection and storage
We will contact you when your watch is ready. We ask that you collect pieces within 30 days of notification. After this period, we may apply a nominal storage charge of ฿200 per month.
Pieces left uncollected for 12 months after notification, with no response from the customer, may be treated as abandoned. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before reaching that point.
We store all watches in our care with reasonable security and care. We maintain insurance for pieces in the workshop, subject to the limits described in section 7.
7. Liability
We take the utmost care with every watch entrusted to us. Our liability for loss or damage to a piece in our care is limited to the fair market value of the watch at the time it was received, based on comparable sold examples. We do not accept liability for:
- Pre-existing faults, wear, or damage not noted on intake
- Cosmetic changes that are an ordinary result of service (such as light marks from movement handling)
- Deterioration in parts that were worn beyond serviceable condition at intake
- Consequential or indirect losses
We document the condition of each piece on intake and are happy to show you this record.
8. Warranty on completed work
We stand behind the quality of our work. For Movement Service and Heirloom Restoration, we offer a 12-month workmanship warranty covering defects directly attributable to the service we performed.
This warranty covers the regulated movement functions and does not apply to wear and tear, accidental damage, moisture ingress, or faults unrelated to the work carried out. Health Check & Clean is not covered by a workmanship warranty, as no mechanical work on the movement is included.
To raise a concern under warranty, please contact us with your service record number.
9. Parts
Where new parts are required, we will discuss sourcing options with you before proceeding. We use original manufacturer parts where available and appropriate. In cases where original parts are no longer available, we will discuss alternatives openly — including the option of leaving a worn part in place if it remains functional.
Replaced parts are available to you on request and returned with the watch unless you indicate otherwise.
10. Website use
The content on this website is provided for general information about our services. Nothing on this website constitutes a contractual offer — service agreements are made in person or in direct correspondence.
We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate, but we cannot warrant that all content is free from error. Prices and service details are subject to change without notice.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute arising from work carried out by Patina will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Chiang Mai.
